Somebody To Love by Queen performed by Brittany Murphy from the Happy Feet OST (1999)
“Somebody to Love” is a song written by Freddie Mercury of British rock band Queen. It featured on the band’s 1976 album A Day at the Races, and was wonderfully covercovered by Brittany Murphy in the movie Happy Feet where she played penguin Gloria. Each time I watch her perform this song or hear it on my phone, I can’t help but well up with emotion.
Brittany Ann Monjack-Murphy was born on November 10th 1977 and was tragically taken from us on December 20th 2009 at was age of 32 from pneumonia with iron deficiency as a result of anemia and multiple prescription drug intoxication listed as contributing factors.
As well as a much loved actress whom which fans are familiar with, she was also an extremely underrated singer.
She featured on Faster Kill Pussycat by Paul Oakenfold (below). The Club remix and an excellent Dubstep remix (artist unknown).

I had no idea she was a singer as well as an actress. I just watch the Paul Oakenfold video, and she’s got a very magnetic presence.

She is fantastic! I loved all her work, especially in David and Lisa which was an adorable 90s love story set in a psychiatric unit. Her personality and voice was beautiful. Her death devastated me and I still get upset if I think about it too much. Did you have any favourite films of hers? Yes, she’s definitely magnetic!
