I’d Rather Be Second Best

Me somewhere north of Inverness in Scotland

I’d rather be asleep
So I can awaken
I’d rather be drowning
So I can breach the surface
I’d rather watch the sun set
So I can feel the sun rise
I’d rather be trapped
So I can be set free
I’d rather be nothing
So I can become someone
I’d rather be losing
So I can celebrate winning
I’d rather be second best
Because it’s close to ideal
I’d rather be all these things and more
So I can begin my regrowth
Physically
Mentally
Emotionally
Spiritually
