I’m currently re-watching the hit US drama 13 Reasons Why which was adapted from the 2007 book by Jay Asher. An emotional and punchy read which had me hooked from the outset. I read it after watching all four series of the tragic story of high school student Hannah Baker and the harrowing thirteen reasons why she committed suicide recorded on audio cassettes. I’m watching the series again with fresh eyes since learning more about the issues raised and mental health. And applying my own life with the difficulties I live with each day as a result of my BPD, various health problems and a few traumatic experiences.

13 Reasons Why Not To

I have cheated death
My failures give me strength
I am loved by many
I have the support of many
My voice is not lost
I’m here for all to see
My life is my truth
All my sides as open wounds
Bleeding disabilities clot and congeal
I douse out Hellfire
In my darkness always light
Lighting the unforeseen journey
Of this relentless Mighty Mouse

I’m safe in caring hands
