Battered No More

This little poem was hastily written down on the back of an MRI scan appointment letter whilst I was on hold to the council.

Where do you randomly write your work?

I’m a waterlogged kayak
Adrift white water rapids
Battered by rocks
Helplessly capsizing
I flip over and float on
Through the perilous currents
Crash, bang, crack and scratch
I erratically descend
Down the river of chaos
Through waves of triggers
Cruising emotional danger zones
Suddenly I tip sideways
Into the rough safety of gravel
My exterior seemingly wasted
But
I reached the shore
Battered no more

You certainly do learn
